Thesis Title: ‘Against Instrumental Reason: Spirituality, Neo-Marxism, and Heideggerian Thought in J.L. Aranguren, M. Zambrano, and J. Aguirre’

About

My area of specialization is the History of Ideas in Spain and in exile during the Franco regime, with particular emphasis on the concept of rationality and the dichotomy between materiality and spirituality. My most current research project is the co-edition with Dr. Laura López-Fernández of three volumes revolving around the theme of Exile and Identity. I am particularly interested in the impact of emigration on the literary, political, and philosophical production during the period that expands from the Spanish Civil War (1936-9) to the early 1980s. Another line of research which I am also pursuing is the relationship between Translation and Psychoanalysis, specifically in reference to Jungian archetypes. Other interests include Critical Theory, Political Philosophy, Existentialism, and Religion.
